Which blade for quartzite?

Short answer

Natural quartzite needs a blade with very durable segments, designed for extremely hard and abrasive stone. Blade life matters most, and the feed rate is set lower than in granite.

We recommend THE QUEEN SILENT (E-VDS) — a patented quartzite blade that needs no dressing before the first cut — and DEX XP (WODIAM), which cuts quartzite up to 3 cm thick in a single pass, without chipping and without constant operator supervision.

Why quartzite is difficult

Quartzite wears segments quickly, and the same blade can behave differently in different quartzites. Cutting too fast shortens blade life, so it is worth testing the blade on your own material and setting the feed rate during the trial.

Which to choose

  • Longest life — THE QUEEN SILENT or DEX XP.
  • Best cut quality — THE KING SLIM or PASCAL XP, which also cut sintered stone and ceramics.
  • Drilling and milling quartzite — WODIAM thin-wall core bits (up to 55 mm/min in quartzite) and red milling bits.

WODIAM

DEX XP

Quartzite blade: up to 3 cm in a single pass, without chipping and without dressing.

E-VDS

THE KING SLIM

Patented blade for sintered stone, ceramics and quartzite. In 20 mm DEKTON it cuts at 2.5 m/min — 3.5 times faster than a typical sintered stone blade.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What feed rate for cutting quartzite?

Lower than in granite — cutting too fast clearly shortens blade life. The exact feed rate depends on the quartzite, thickness and machine; we set it during a free trial.

Does a quartzite blade need dressing?

THE QUEEN SILENT needs no dressing before the first cut, and DEX XP needs no dressing at all.

How fast can you drill holes in quartzite?

WODIAM thin-wall core bits drill quartzite at up to 55 mm/min and other materials at up to 110 mm/min — without oscillation.
