How to remove stains from stone and sintered stone?

Short answer

First identify the type of stain, because an organic stain is removed differently from a greasy one or rust. A universal product usually doesn't work, and one that is too aggressive can dull polished stone.

Wine, coffee and tea stains on marble, granite and sintered stone are removed by NOSTAIN (Lantania) — quickly and without dulling the surface. Greasy and oil stains — TWINSPOT. Rust — GELRUST gel, which also works on vertical surfaces. Epoxy resin residues on sintered stone and ceramics — PAL7.

Type of stain → product

  • Wine, coffee, tea — NOSTAIN.
  • Oil, grease — TWINSPOT (solvent-based).
  • Rust — GELRUST (gel) or TWINSRUX.
  • Efflorescence, grout residues — LANTA 6 (not on polished marble) or Acid Plus (ABR).
  • Epoxy residues — PAL7 (sintered stone, ceramics, mosaic, glass).

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How to remove a wine stain from marble?

A fresh organic stain (wine, coffee, tea) is removed by NOSTAIN without dulling the surface. If instead of a stain you see a dull mark, it is acid etching — the shine has to be restored.

How to remove a grease stain from granite?

With a stain remover for greasy substances, e.g. TWINSPOT (Lantania) — solvent-based, for stone, terracotta and sintered stone.

How to remove epoxy grout residues from sintered stone?

With the thick product PAL7 (Lantania). Do not use it on absorbent materials or varnished surfaces.

Can marble be cleaned with an acidic product?

Not polished marble and stone — acid will dull the surface. Acidic detergents (e.g. LANTA 6) are for acid-resistant surfaces.
