How to cut the cost per metre of cutting?

Short answer

The cost per metre of cutting is the sum of machine and operator time, tool wear, electricity and water, and downtime for changing and dressing the blade — not just the price of the blade. A faster, longer-lasting blade usually lowers the cost per metre, even if it costs more itself.

An example: THE KING SLIM in 20 mm DEKTON cuts 3.5 times faster than a typical sintered stone blade, and at a slower feed rate it lasts half as long again. Blades that need no dressing (PASCAL XP, DEX XP) shorten downtime, and a closed water loop cuts water intake by up to 95%. StoneZone calculates this together with you and checks it on your machine.

Where money most often leaks away

  • Feed rate too slow — the machine and operator spend longer on every metre.
  • Downtime — changing and dressing blades, switching between materials.
  • Rework — chipped edges and cracked slabs.
  • Dirty water — sludge shortens tool life.
  • Moving slabs by hand — time and risk of damage.

How we work

We don't just sell — above all, we advise. We analyse the process in your plant, calculate the cost per running metre, select tools and machines, bring a blade for a free trial and show the result in figures. If there is no difference, you don't buy anything.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How to calculate the cost per metre of cutting?

Divide the total cost (machine and operator time, tool, electricity, water, downtime) by the number of metres cut. We will help you calculate it for your plant and compare it with another tool in a trial.

Does a more expensive blade pay off?

Often yes: if it cuts several times faster and lasts longer, the cost per metre falls. The surest way to check is a free trial on your own machine.

How much does a tool trial with StoneZone cost?

The trial is free: no cost for the blade, travel or the advisor's time. We set the feed rate, speed and cooling, and you judge the result.
