What to polish a stone or sintered edge with?

Short answer

The edge polishing tool depends on the machine. On an edge polisher the FLASH pad (E-VDS) works well: it moves eccentrically and leaves no scratches — the edge gets a uniform shine on any material, from marble to sintered stone.

On a CNC centre you profile and polish the edge with DRS sets (WODIAM; ø60 mm — 29 profiles, ø20 mm — 7 profiles) and make the chamfer with the BIT-CH bit in one pass. By hand — with ABR cup wheels, grinding cups and pads for angle grinders and hand polishers.

Choosing by machine

  • Edge polisher — FLASH pad: polishing takes less time and costs less.
  • CNC centre — DRS polishing sets (from calibration to shine) and the BIT-CH bit for chamfers.
  • Grinder and hand polisher — ABR tools: cup wheels, grinding cups, brushes and pads for edges, cut-outs and details.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How to polish a sintered stone edge without scratches?

On an edge polisher use the FLASH pad — the eccentric motion leaves no scratches. On CNC — a DRS set with successive grits up to the final shine.

How many profiles do DRS sets have?

DRS sets ø60 mm come in 29 profiles, and ø20 mm in 7. Give the profile code in your enquiry.

How to make a chamfer on the edge on CNC?

With the BIT-CH bit (WODIAM): chamfer from above or below in a single pass. It is an electroplated bit, so it keeps its shape.
